For An Act To Be Entitled
AN ACT TO REQUIRE THAT A MAJORITY OF THE MEMBERS OF THE OIL AND GAS COMMISSION BE EXPERIENCED IN THE DEVELOPMENT, PRODUCTION, AND TRANSPORTATION OF OIL AND GAS; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
TO REQUIRE THAT A MAJORITY OF THE
MEMBERS OF THE OIL AND GAS COMMISSION BE
EXPERIENCED IN THE DEVELOPMENT,
PRODUCTION, AND TRANSPORTATION OF OIL
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. Arkansas Code § 15-71-102 is amended to read as follows:
(a) The Oil and Gas Commission shall consist of nine (9) members, each to be appointed for a term of six (6) years, and, in event of a vacancy, the Governor shall by appointment fill the unexpired term.
(b) All of the members of the commission shall be residents and citizens of the State of Arkansas, at least thirty (30) years of age, at least four (4) a majority of whom shall be experienced in the development, production, and transportation of oil and gas.
(c) Each member shall qualify by taking an oath of office and shall hold office until his or her successor is appointed and qualified.
(d) Each member may receive expense reimbursement and stipends in accordance with § 25-16-901 et seq.
SECTION 2. NOT TO BE CODIFIED.
If upon the effective date of this act, there are not a majority of the members of the Oil and Gas Commission who are experienced in the development, production, and transportation of oil and gas on the commission, the Governor shall, upon the next vacancy, appoint a person who is experienced in the development, production, and transportation of oil and gas until that number is reached.
