Nexus Coffee and Creative, 301B President Clinton Ave., will open at 7 a.m. Saturday, July 15, becoming the third new downtown coffee house to open in as many months this year.

Owner Amy Moorehead says Nexus is the realization of a dream to boost creativity, both entrepreneurial and artistic, by creating a co-working space with WiFi, artwork, live music featuring local singer-songwriters and, of course, coffee. Nexus' coffee is supplied by Leiva’s Coffee, which is headquartered in North Little Rock and sells coffee it grows in Guatemala, and espresso from Mountain Bird Coffee & Tea in Eureka Springs. There will also be a frothy, nitrogen-infused cold brew, served in a glass and looking very much like Guinness.

The shop's food offerings will include baked goods from Honey Pies and Dempsey bakeries, paninis, cheese boards, and, setting it apart from other java shops, beer and wine.

Nexus also breaks with the white walls and succulent plant decor that its coffee shop cohorts have adopted and is going for an Arkansas farm look, with wooden pallets on the wall and metal accents. It even has an interior barn — a separate meeting room, complete with tin roof and sliding barn door — outfitted with a smart TV, glass board and a table that seats 10. It will rent for $10 an hour, and be open when it's not rented.

Hours will be 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The space will also be available for private lease after-hours.
