The Medical Marijuana Commission met today and the state's five licensed growers announced their expected timelines, KATV's Marine Glisovic reports:

Five cultivators plan to have the product available between spring and late summer of next year. The companies and their expected dates of availability:

Bold Team — April
Natural State Medicinals Cultivation — April
Osage Creek Cultivation — June
Natural State Wellness Enterprises — July
Delta Medical Cannabis Company, Inc. — July or August
Delta requested to move to a new a site about a mile and half from its current location; construction on its facility has been stalled because of legal questions about its proximity to Arkansas State University-Newport. The commission voted to table a decision until next month's meeting, pending an attorney general's opinion on the matter.

Licenses for dispensaries are expected to be awarded at next month's meeting. The D-G reports that state officials expect the first dispensaries to be open by April when the first crop is ready.

Officials from the Department of Health told the commission that more than 6,000 Arkansans have been approved for medical marijuana cards.

All this two years and counting after voters first approved a constitutional amendment legalizing medical marijuana.
