Rutledge names new solicitor general

Attorney General Leslie Rutledge announced today that Lee Rudofsky, her solicitor general — or lead counsel in litigation  — was leaving to take a job with Walmart's anti-corruption legal team and will be succeeded by Nicholas Bronni, already on staff.

Bronni has already worked on the office's efforts to strip women of medical rights, to fight clean air and water rules and otherwise promote Rutledge's Republican agenda.

Bronni, a Camden native, has an undergraduate degree from George Washington and law degree from Michigan. He worked for the SEC and a Washington law firm among other experience.r

Rutledge created the position in 2016. She has used it to prevent poor women from getting Medicaid-paid services such as cancer screening at Planned Parenthood and also has argued for the secrecy of processes and completion of executions.

Get a taste of Bronni here, writing for the Federalist Society about how Planned Parenthood should be put out of the business of providing pills to end pregnancies in the first 10 weeks of pregnancy. Though the law aimed at doing this is pointless and of no demonstrated public health value, he argues Planned Parenthood hasn't proved enough women will be harmed to prevent it from taking effect. "Some women?" No biggie.
