A sexual harassment complaint has been made by a district staffer against Fayetteville school district superintendent Matthew Wendt, the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports. According to an attorney representing the woman who lodged the complaint, Wendt made unwanted sexual advances and she experienced a hostile work environment. The allegations include stalking her home and threatening to withhold a raise if she did not have sex with him.

The district has launched an investigation into the complaint. Wendt continues to perform his duties as superintendent while that investigation is ongoing (the district has granted leave with pay to two employees who requested it once the investigation began).

Susan Keller Kendall, a Rogers lawyer retained by the district, told the D-G by email:

Allegations were reported to the Fayetteville School Board regarding Dr. Matthew Wendt. Following receipt of the complaint and pursuant to Fayetteville Public School policy, an investigation was instituted and is ongoing. Because the investigation is ongoing, no further information may be released at this time.
