Laverne Clines of Jonesboro bought a $20 lottery ticket from a Doublebees in Jonesboro and it turned out to be a $1 million winner.

An Arkansas Lottery news release said she’ll take care of family first. Tax will take a bite of about a third of the money off the top. The retailer gets a $10,000 bonus.

The Million Dollar Winner game with instant prizes from $20 to $1 million for $20 tickets began Dec. 5 and some $22 million in prizes are theoretically yet to be claimed (some winners may have already been sold but unclaimed). Odds of a winner are 1 in three. Odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 600,000.
