Chad Morris
meets the press today. The former SMU coach will take over as head football coach for the Razorbacks, the University of Arkansas announced yesterday. Morris will be paid $3.5 million a year. Bret Bielema was fired last month after a disappointing 4-8 season.

KARK has a livestream of the press conference, beginning at 10 a.m., on their Facebook page. Julie Cromer Peoples, the associate vice chancellor for athletics who had been serving as interim athletic director until Hunter Yurachek was named AD this week, is introducing him now...

A few notes:

Yurachek praised Peoples' work on the coaching search. "You have no idea the fire she was thrown into the last couple of weeks," he said.

Morris also thanked the "relentless effort" of Peoples.

"We're here to win, we want to win, and we want to win championships," Morris said. "That's what we're going to do."

"This is what I was meant to do, what God blessed me to do — to coach football and impact lives."

"We get to do something special in the greatest conference in the country," Morris said, promising to build one of the best programs in the country, a "model program for all others to follow." Referencing the football program's sole national championship, he said he would bring the Razorbacks back to the heights of 1964.

He gave credit to Bielema but revealed that he has absolutely no idea how to pronounce his name.

"Being a champion is not an event, it's a lifestyle," he said. So there you go.
