The Little Rock School District has placed McClellan High School Principal Patricia Ellis-Brunston on administrative leave with pay for unspecified reasons. A school district spokesman told the Democrat-Gazette the suspension was unrelated to the school district.

KARK/Fox 16 reports that Ellis-Brunston faces domestic battery charges filed in October. It says they involve whipping two boys, aged 5 and 8, with a belt. She has pleaded not guilty. The charges are pending in Garland County district court, according to the state's on-line records system.

For the record: The Little Rock School District prohibits the use of corporal punishment for discipline.
