Did somebody say there was a political angle in state Rep. Charles Blake's criticism of Mayor Mark Stodola's intervention against a now-scrapped rap show tonight in Little Rock? I believe I did.

Now comes Frank Scott Jr., one of Stodola's challengers for re-election next year, with more criticism of the mayor's heavy-handed participation in events that led to cancellation of the Metroplex show by Money Bagg Yo.

Scott distributed this statement this evening:

“I along with many Little Rock citizens are disappointed in the recent actions of the Mayor of our city concerning his advocating to cancel a Hip Hop concert at the Metroplex. I really look forward to a Little Rock that lives up to its potential. A city where its residents don’t have to choose between enjoying entertainment and public safety, a city where individual rights and property rights harmoniously co-exist. Little Rock should be a city where its rules are transparent, consistent, fair and without politics. A city where information is made available for its citizens and leadership. I am hopeful that a city with as much potential as Little Rock will never have to choose which venue to keep safe and which venue to close because all of our citizens deserve safety, and all of our businesses deserve an opportunity for a free enterprise environment. And I look forward to the day when this potential becomes a reality for all Little Rock citizens.”Le
Let the 2018 mayoral race get serious, with an urban flavor. I've asked Stodola if he'd like to respond.

For the uninitiated, a video of Money Bagg Yo at work.
