Condemned inmate says he's competent to be executed

CLEMENCY PLEA: A video on Jack Greene's life, including a terrible childhood, was offered in support.
A clemency hearing is underway today at the Varner prison unit for Jack Greene, scheduled to be killed by the state Nov. 9 for a Johnson County murder.

His attorneys have argued in a filing with the state pardons board and in court that Greene is severely mentally disturbed and not competent to be executed.

In testimony today, KARK's Jessie Turnure tweets:

"They've made me out to be a total idiot and retard from day one." Jack Greene says he is "totally competent" to be executed
Attorneys are not bound by Greene's wishes. They have filed an extensive pleading for clemency based on his childhood experiences and mental condition.

Victim impact statements are scheduled this afternoon. UPDATE: They oppose clemency, fear Greene and speak of the brutal nature of his killing.

Presentations in favor of clemency included a 14-minute video on Greene's life, viewable here. It includes suicide of his father, family life in a chicken coop and abusive treatment by caretakers.

KARK's Turnure is relaying much of Greene's testimony by Twitter. It includes physical ailments.

"I've been jacked up like this for 13 years." Greene never sat during hearing, constantly contorting body in pain & breathing heavy
Asked directly if he wanted clemency, Greene responded:

Greene: If I can transfer to NC (where he killed brother) for medical help. If not, execution.
