Former Razorback basketball star Sidney Moncrie
f will celebrate his 60th birthday with events this weekend tied to a launch of the Moncrief Institute for College and Career Readiness
, said to be a nonprofit aimed at professional development for young people.
He'll talk about the program at a forum from noon to 2 p.m. at the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center. Said a news release quoting Moncrief:
“My desire is to be a Game Changer in the lives of others through cutting edge professional development. We will be uniquely dedicated to developing soft skills necessary for success in today’s competitive environment.”
He also plans a shooting clinic for high school basketball players from 4 to 6 p.m. at Philander Smith College that will honor four former Little Rock high school coaches — Oliver Elders, Eddie Boone, Johnny Greenwood and Charles Ripley.
