The Arkansas Department of Health announced today that the mumps outbreak
which began in Arkansas last summer is over, with the last case of the disease confirmed in July.
There were almost 3,000 cases of the disease reported in the state since the outbreak began about a year ago, including some in central Arkansas.
CDC data says that there were 6,366 reported cases of mumps in the entire U.S. in 2016.
