The Little Rock City Board
agenda Tuesday includes review
of the Planning Commission's earlier approval of a change in zoning for the Boyle Building at Capitol and Main to allow redevelopment of the 12-story building for a hotel, apartments and commercial uses.
The addition of 96 apartments to the plan
by the Chi Hotel Group
requires the zoning change.
The historic building was acquired years ago, but little progress has been made on the redevelopment. If it finally is put in motion, it will be a key piece in a redeveloping Main Street corridor. Still hanging is whether the long-rumored redevelopment of the Donaghey Building
at Seventh and Main will get underway. It's been targeted by a potential buyer that would benefit from a program in which U.S. residency is provided for foreign investments.
Also on the agenda:
Changes in the city's zoning rules
to provide for medical marijuana cultivation and dispensing facilities. They will effectively be treated for zoning purposes in the same manner as retail pharmacies, with other restrictions outlined in state law on distances from schools, churches
