Razorback opponent takes pay cut if band stays home

Tyler Thomason of KARK/Fox 16 reports that Florida A&M, which will play football against the Arkansas Razorbacks Aug. 31 in War Memorial Stadium, will take a $50,000 cut in its payday if the school's famous marching band doesn't make the trip.

The contract calls for a $750,000 payment to Florida A&M to be a cupcake for the Hogs to devour. But it says payment will be reduced $50,000 if the marching band does not attend. Thomason and others, quoting a band spokesman, said the Marching 100 will not make the trip to Little Rock. It is a school night (Thursday), after all.

They say the band never loses a contest. The Rattlers football team, however, was 4-7 last year.
