SWANNEE BENNETT

Swannee Bennett has been named director of the Historic Arkansas Museum by Stacy Hurst, director of the Department of Arkansas Heritage. He’d been interim director since Bill Worthen retired in December. He had been deputy director and chief curator at HAM since 1982.

“I am very pleased that Swannee is officially stepping up to lead HAM as director,” said Hurst. “His professional experience and his passion for the preservation of Arkansas’s frontier past and his knowledge of the state’s creative legacy will ensure that Historic Arkansas Museum remains an example of how to interpret and present a historic site and make that cultural heritage important to Arkansans today.”
