“I’m running for State Representative because Arkansas needs new leadership and fresh ideas. I want to help end our long history of being near the bottom of too many national rankings when it comes to education and quality of life,” said Mallett. “Arkansas is a wonderful state, but we lag too far behind when it comes to public education and creating good-paying jobs. It’s time for that to change.”Mallett, a Morrilton native, was a Governor's Distinguished Scholar at the University of Arkansas and is a graduate of the UA-Little Rock law school. Her release notes her mother. Janna Virden, is a former college professor and her father, Bart Virden, is an Arkansas Court of Appeals Judge.
“Between the power of special interests and the rigid partisanship that has strangled our politics, nothing gets done in the State Legislature that improves the lives of middle-class Arkansans,” said Mallett.
