SHELIA BELLOTT: Faulkner emergency management director focus of complaint.
At the urging of the Faulkner County Quorum Court, Prosecuting Attorney Cody HIland
will undertake what he called a civil investigation of complaints of sexual harassment against Shelia Bellott,
who oversees four employees as director of the county's emergency management office.
complaints about sexually explicit conversations in the office and also about Bellott taking long breaks to get her nails done. Given the number of reported complaints, KATV asked the county attorney why action hadn't been taken previously.
"If you work at a garage full of men, there may be one threshold. If you work in a mixed company in a professional setting, there may be another threshold,” said Faulkner County Attorney David Hogue.
When pressed for the county's threshold, Hogue said it's not his call.
“I can't really say what the threshold is. That's up to whoever the administrator is and thankfully I’m not the administrator in this,” added Hogue.
The article says two employees have made Equal Employment Opportunity Commission complaints and quotes Hogue as saying employees had been afraid to step forward. Bellott declined to comment to KATV.
