Stan Jones Mallard Lodge
NEW GAME AND FISH COMMISSIONER: Stan Jones.
Gov. Asa Hutchinsontoday
named Stan Jones
of Walnut Ridge, a farmer, sports apparel merchant and hunting lodge operator, to the state Game and Fish Commission.
Hutchinson's prepared statement:
“As a fifth generation farmer and an avid outdoorsman, Stan appreciates Arkansas in ways that few others do, and he is a perfect fit for the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. As a fellow hunter and conservationist, I understand how critical it is to appoint a leader who dearly loves all the natural resources that Arkansas has to offer. Stan has demonstrated a passion for stewarding Arkansas’ natural resources throughout his entire life.”
White, male and well-off is the nearly unbreakable template for Game and Fish appointments and Jones didn't break tradition.
The release said Jones farms 7,000 acres and owns BANDED outdoor sporting apparel, Avery Outdoors
and Stan Jones Mallard Lodge. He's a graduate of Arkansas State, where he played on
the 1970 national football championship.
He succeeds Fred Brown and will have a seven-year term.
