Trump administration continues to dismantle environmental protection

The Environmental Protection Agency is preparing to rescind the Obama administration rule that extended water quality protection to smaller streams.

The so-called Waters of the U.S. rule has riled business interests and Donald Trump had vowed to repeal it. It's among many rules aimed at protecting air and water that Attorney General Leslie Rutledge has opposed and a celebratory news release can be expected from her soon.

The Obama administration contended the rule helped protect water that provided drinking water as well as recreational and wildlife uses. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, a leader in the fight against the clean water rule, called it government overreach, a favorite phrase of Rutledge.

UPDATE: Indeed Rutledge later issued a news release as did Gov. Asa Hutchinson, also happy EPA is pulling back from efforts to insure clean water.
