Arkansas Business' Mark Friedman reports that Circuit Judge Bobby McCallister of Benton is facing a judicial discipline agency review related to federal income tax issues.

AB reports that the IRS filed more than $104,000 in federal tax liens against McCallister in Saline Circuit Court in 2011. The liens covered taxes owed for 2000-2003 and 2005-2008. Those were years when he was in private practice as a lawyer.

David Sachar, executive director of the Judicial Discipline and Disability Commission, confirmed the disciplinary agency review but said he could provide no other details. McCallister said he could not comment.

McCallister has been a judge since 2009. The job pays $160,000 a year.

UPDATE: Fox 16 reported additionally Tuesday night that McCallister had repeatedly taken the Fifth Amendment when questioned about his tax situation during a hearing over his own divorce.
