All political eyes turn to Thursday and former FBI Director James Comey's testimony about Donald Trump's efforts to quell investigations of Russian ties to him and his campaigners.

The Washington Post indicates Trump is contemplating handling his defense by live Tweet. But other defenses are being lined up, with some difficulty, apparently.

The Republican National Committee has lined up a roster of surrogates to appear on conservative news stations nationwide to defend Trump. But a list the RNC distributed on Tuesday could hardly be described as star-studded: The names include Bob Paduchik, an RNC co-chair who worked on Trump’s Ohio campaign; Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi (R); and Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge (R).
Oof. The Arkansas AG not star-studded? The Post must have missed some of Rutledge's star turns on cable TV. On another occasion, her defense of the Trump firing of Comey was characterized as "dumber than a box of hammers." In fairness: It is hard to defend the indefensible, even if you have high intellect, sharp debating skills and a lengthy record of accomplished legal advocacy.
