  • BRIAN ITZKOWITZ: Leaving Goodwill
Brian Itzkowitz, who led a dramatic expansion of Goodwill Industries of Arkansas since joining the agency in 2008, took "sabbatical," or paid leave, two weeks ago and the agency is seeking a new leader, said Mitch Chandler, chair of the non-profit agency's board.

Chandler said there was nothing untoward in Itzkowitz's departure. He credited him for "tremendous growth" and said, "as we celebrate our 90th anniversary, the future is very bright."

The agency, best known for resale and recycling of donated goods and its work training programs, grew from 15 to 43 locations during Itzkowitz's tenure and saw revenues grow from $9 million to $30 million annually, Chandler said. It also now serves the entire state of Arkansas. He said Itzkowitz had a high profile in the agency nationally as a result of his work and had a "bright future." I've sent him an e-mail seeking comment. He was named Arkansas Business' nonprofit executive of the year in 2013 for his achievements.

Brian Marsh, Goodwill's chief operating officer, will be interim director, Chandler said.
