Author Richard Ford has an essay in this week's New Yorker on a 1967 summer job in Little Rock, supervising young people of the Neighborhood Youth Corps.

There's something of a reverse Tom Sawyer tale here. Good reading from the novelist and short story writer whose relationship to a Little Rock hotel operator brought him to Little Rock many times during his youth.
