The Pulaski sheriff's office said Ryan Reed,
29, of Redfield was fatally shot in a dispute in Hensley this morning.
The office said Reed went to the home in Hensley with Derek Elder, 29, about 5 a.m. "to retrieve property that he believed was his." An argument broke out, Reed pulled a gun and the person at the house shot Reed.
Elder was not armed, but he was assisting Reed, the release said, and was charged with manslaughter. The man who shot Reed was not charged and has not yet been identified. The property and the nature of the dispute haven't been disclosed. A summary of a deputy's arrest report said Elder "was involved in an attempted robbery that resulted in the death of a third suspect."
UPDATE: A spokesman said later that Reed was attempting to retrieve a truck, but the person in possession didn't want to give it up. That led to the firearm being produced to gain possession. The identity of the shooter has still not been disclosed.
UPDATE II: The shooter was Larry Akins Jr., 54. Also on scene was Larry Akins III.
