ALMOST GONE: The old Easter Seals facility on Lee Avenue.
Neighbors tell me they expect demolition of the former Easter Seals building
at the eastern end of Lee Avenue in Hillcrest to be completed this week. The building, on property owned by the state schools for the blind and deaf, has been vacant for five years, an eyesore and nuisance to neighbors.
State aid finally came together to get the land cleared. No immediate plans exist for its use except green space. A deep ravine separates the land from other school property.
Here's a story with some of the background
. It was marked by occasional controversy over use of the property after Easter Seals opened a new headquarters in western Little Rock.
