The city of Little Rock and the Downtown Little Rock Partnership rolled out the Popup Pianos today, beginning with some ivory tickling at Capitol and Main.

To promote the so-called Main Street Creative Corridor, three pianos donated by Richard Deutsch and decorated by art students, will be placed downtown for people to play as the spirit moves. Outdoor pianos have been popular additions to streetscapes around the world in recent times.

Another will be in the River Market and one will be in the 200 block of Main Street.

Let's hope this works out better than the city's short lived free bike loaner program. The bikes rapidly disappeared. Pianos might be a little harder to cart off.
