LRPD reports two shootings this afternoon, at 1803 Park Lane, where one person has died, and another at 24th and Marshall. Two other people were wounded.

Josh Berry of KARK reports that the person who was killed was a 60-year-0ld caregiver at a daycare facility, Shirley Jackson. He says the drive-by was targeted at a nearby house. But it appears a stray bullet felled Jackson in the daycare. There were nine children in the daycare.

KARK also describes the shooting at 24th and Marshall as a drive-by.

KARK captured video of the father of a child in the daycare learning a caregiver had been fatally wounded.

The Little Rock Fraternal Order of Police uses the latest violent outbursts to make a political case for more police department spending.

Here's the news release on the Park Lane shooting:
On 04/27/2017 at approximately 1450 hours Officers were dispatched to 1805 Park Lane on a shooting just occurred. Upon arrival officers located a female victim who was suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was unresponsive and transported to UAMS by ambulance.

It was determined that the residence at 1805 Park Lane was an in-home daycare and there were nine children inside the residence at the time of the shooting. These children were all four years of age and younger. There were also three adults, including the shooting victim, inside the residence. The victim was identified as Shirley Jackson (B/F, 01/26/57, of Little Rock). Jackson died as a result of her injuries at the hospital. There were no other injuries to anyone from the residence. All of the children were taken to a safe location where their parents picked them up.

As officers were on the scene they were advised that another shooting victim had arrived at Children’s Hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg that was not life threatening. The victim was identified as Deshaun Rushing (B/M, 10/31/1995, of Little Rock). Detectives were able to interview Rushing.

Homicide Detectives and CSSU personnel responded to the scene. It was determined that the residence at 1901 Park Lane had been shot several times and at least one of the bullets had also struck the house at 1805 Park Lane. Rushing was inside the residence at 1901 Park Lane along with several other subjects when a light colored vehicle drove by and several suspects began firing at the house from the vehicle.

The next of kin has been notified. The investigation is ongoing.
