The Arkansas Parole Board
today declined to recommend executive clemency for Marcel Williams
, whose execution is set for April 24.
Williams is one of eight Arkansas inmates scheduled to be put to death by lethal injection in late April. The recommendation from the parole board was made by a 5-2 vote, with commissioners Dawn Vandiver and Abraham Carpenter recommending a commutation of Williams' sentence to life without parole.
Earlier this week
, the parole board refused to recommend clemency for death row inmates Stacey Johnson and Ledell Lee.
The board will hear from two other inmates, Kenneth Williams and Jason McGee, on Friday, March 31.
