The House approved 77-1
and sent to the governor HB 1665 aimed at discouraging undercover video by employees and other of business operations.
The bill is particularly aimed at discouraging, with potential lawsuits, whistleblowers who've made undercover video of animal mistreatment. But the law applies to most businesses. The law is pitched as an "unauthorized access" bill but it applies to company employees who "exceed authority" to enter an area. The bill was amended to exempt health care providers, though other laws place limits on photography in nursing homes.
Humane organizations had lobbied against the bill, to little avail.
