Attorney General Jeff Sessions has asked for the resignations of the 46 U.S. attorneys who remain as holdover appointees of President Barack Obama.

Changes in the U.S. attorney jobs are typical with changes of administration.

Those resignations sought would likely include that of Chris Thyer, the U.S. attorney for the eastern district of Arkansas, who's a former Democratic legislator appointed in 2010. The appointed U.S. attorney in the western district, Conner Eldridge, resigned to run unsuccessfully for Senate last year and the office has been held on an interim basis by Kenneth Elser.
