The Chicago Tribune reports on the guilty plea by John Rogers, the North Little Rock collector of sports memorabilia and photographs, to a fraud charge related to a fake Heisman trophy.

He did it for greed, he said.

In the negotiated plea, prosecutors will seek an eight-year sentence of Rogers, whose high-flying business collapsed amid a welter of lawsuits over millions in contested sales and unpaid loans. This article said Rogers will be responsible for $25 million in restitution. Such obligations often are merely theoretical or people with nothing left.

In a lengthy Facebook post after he was charged, Rogers apologized for his actions and said he had no one to blame but himself. He even thanked federal investigators for saving him from "a downward spiral of cocaine addiction."

"Had they not stepped in, I would be dead now," Rogers wrote.
