Here's the open line, with some notes on a pair of Arkansans who made headlines on appearances on national TV today.

* WHAT, ME WORRY? U.S. Sen. Tom Cotton appeared on Fox News. According to Josh Rogin of the Washington Post, Cotton said most Americans don't care that Donald Trump has accused former President Barack Obama of wiretapping without evidence. At least Cotton did muster a comment that he'd seen no evidence of it. Cotton's lack of concern is a two-fold commentary — on his integrity and his assessment, likely correct, of the Arkansas electorate.

* DON'T ASK ME, I'M JUST HIS SPOKESMAN: Sarah Huckabee Sanders continued the grand Huckster family tradition with evasive and ultimately dishonest answers to a grilling by Martha Raddatz on ABC about the Trump twitterblast.  Sanders kept saying, "if" the wire tapping happened. Raddatz kept saying that Sanders' boss said it without qualification.

Raddatz, measuredly, went in for the kill: “If, if, if, if, if! Why is the president saying it did happen?” Jumping to POTUS’s defense, Sanders said, “I think he is going off information he’s seen that has led him to believe that this is a very real potential.”

“I will let the president speak for himself,” Sanders added.

“You’re his spokesperson,” Raddatz said

“And I’m speaking about it right now,” Sanders said.

“But you’re backing off of it. You’re backing off of it,” Raddatz said.
Since Trump has opened the subject — evidence or not — it should be investigated, Sanders kept insisting. The strategy here, clearly, is to again blame all ill things on Obama. It got Trump elected after all.

But if all we need is a "report" from a right-wing outlet to justify a witch hunt, how about investigating based on "reports" from intelligence sources. Let's start with Russian golden showers.
