Bill filed to allow concealed weapons in the Capitol

State Rep. Karilyn Brown (R-Sherwood) today filed legislation that would allow holders of concealed weapon permits to carry them in buildings on Capitol grounds, including the Capitol and Arkansas Justice Building, where the appellate courts sit.

The bill does not allow pistol-packing, however, in "meetings of the General Assembly or a committee of the General Assembly." I've asked Brown how that squares with hallways, the cafeteria and such.

The bill continues to prohibit weapons in courtrooms by those other than law enforcement or judges. Also at schools.

You can check out all the changes proposed here.

Why beat around the bazooka? Why not legalize open carry everywhere. If more guns mean more safety, we ought to think first of the legsilature. Let the gats in the committee rooms, too.
