My name is Katie Heath and I am an officer for the University of Arkansas PRIDE organization. If you were not made aware, on January 1, 2017 the University of Arkansas system began covering critical gender affirmation treatment for transgender individuals in their employee health care plan, but just 23 days later, suspended this coverage after an injunction on the Affordable Care Act suspended the law prohibiting employers from excluding or limiting services related to gender transition.
We are hosting a march this Saturday in support of Transgender healthcare rights. We would like to invite you to help us urge the University of Arkansas to reinstate transgender health benefits for it's staff and faculty who support the educational mission of University of Arkansas. If there is anyway that your organization could help spread the word about our march, whether in print or otherwise, that would be incredible!
On Saturday, we will be meeting at the corner of Arkansas Ave. and Dickson St. at 11am. We will be marching from the University of Arkansas, to City Hall, to Fayetteville Square, and back to the Campus for a reception. We will have speakers and refreshments at the University of Arkansas Theater in the Arkansas Union.
