The Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department
has announced postponement
of the scheduled demolition
today of the three concrete arches on the old Broadway Bridge,
which is being replaced by a new span over the Arkansas River in downtown Little Rock.
Lightning prompted the decision. The controlled explosion had been scheduled for 1 p.m.
New demolition time: 8 a.m. Saturday. Note that areas near the bridge will be closed for safety, including the sidewalk on the west side of the Main Street bridge.
