A friend reported a rumor that the community garden plots
rented by the county at Two Rivers Park
might be in jeopardy. I'm happy to report that County Judge Barry Hyde's
office says there's no truth to the rumor.
A letter is being prepared for all gardeners notifying them that their current leases expire Dec. 31 and that all are being asked to remove all personal property by that date because the county plans ground and facility maintenance in January. This will cause some upset, no doubt, because this means storage sheds, fences and other things. Parcels will again be available for lease Feb. 1.
There are currently 482 plots, tended by 187 gardeners. Each plot rents for $50. Pulaski County General Services provides personnel and maintenance for Two Rivers Park. The Garden Center budget is $33,000.
