Dr. Doug Whitlock
, who retired in 2013 as president of Eastern Kentucky University, has been named interim chancellor of Arkansas State University
and will start work Sept. 12. KAIT reports.
ASU System President Chuck Welch
said Whitlock will serve through June and be paid at annual rate of $305,000, pro-rated over the time served.
Whitlock succeeds Tim Hudson,
who was effectively sacked after numerous questions arose
about, among others, his and wife's connections with a foreign study program and its operators.
From a news release by Welch:
By all accounts, he brought a sense of calmness to the Eastern Kentucky campus during a challenging time in its history, and I’m confident he can do the same at A-State.
