Where will it end? Today, Donald Trump
offered the Second Amendment
as the only way to stop Hillary Clinton judicial appointees
should she be elected president.
From Talking Points Memo
"If she gets to pick her judges," Trump said, "nothing you can do, folks. Although the Second Amendment people, maybe there is."
Inevitably, this will prompt backlash. He'll probably say he was just joking. We know from experience that some people with guns don't have well-honed senses of humor.
Several commentators note the lunacy of the U.S. Senate
blocking President Obama's
nomination of Merrick Garland to the U.S. Supreme Court
so that a demonstrably unfit person can make the appointment.
UPDATE: Trump camp is trying to say what he meant to invoke was the power of the Second Amendment voting bloc. But the construction seems to reference a time when Hillary Clinton would be picking judges, which could only be post-election.
Bickering over whether this was a joke misses the point, Vox writes.
