The Texarkana Gazette reports that a nurse was arrested Friday in connection with the July death of an inmate at the Bi-State Justice Center in Texarkana:

Brittany Johnson, 26, was arrested about 3 p.m. for negligent homicide, a Class A misdemeanor, TAPD spokeswoman Cpl. Kristi Bennett said in the release.

"Johnson was the LVN treating (Morgan) Angerbauer at the time she died," Bennett said. ...

Angerbauer was "found alone in her cell, and in what appears to be medical distress by the jail nursing staff and corrections officers shortly after 4 a.m.," Bennett said later that morning. "Efforts to revive Angerbauer were made without success." ...

"Based on facts revealed during the investigation conducted by (TAPD), and upon consultation with the prosecuting attorney's office, an arrest warrant affidavit was prepared for Brittany Johnson," Bennett said.
Angerbeauer, 20, of Texarkana, was arrested on an outstanding warrant three days prior to her death. Her probation had been revoked on a previous drug-related charge.

The medical examiner ruled the cause of death as diabetic ketoacidosis.
