Good report from John Moritz in the D-G
on the Arkansas Libertarian Party's effort to get four House candidates and four candidates for county offices onto local ballots.
A federal judge ruled that a state law placing certain burdens on new parties was unconstitutional but declined to force the state to put the Libertarian candidates on the ballot this year. It's now up to Secretary of State Mark Martin's office. The Party sent a request on Monday.
A spokesman with the secretary of state's office confirmed that the letter was received and said the staff was reviewing it.
"We're at the mercy of their sense of justice and fairness," Pakko said Wednesday, adding that the appeal to Martin is likely the party's last chance to get the eight candidates on the ballot for the Nov. 8 general election.
