Sen. John Boozman: Donald Trump's comments "out of line and unnecessary" but Boozman supports him anyways

More tepid criticism of Donald Trump from the sad parade of congressional Republicans who are plainly disgusted by their nominee for president but endorse him anyways.

Steve Brawner at Talk Business spoke with Sen. John Boozman yesterday:

I think we all have great sadness for the Khan family. Captain Khan was a true American hero. In regard to Mr. Trump’s statements, I think they were out of line and unnecessary. … Captain Khan was a true American hero, and so anything that would disparage that is out of line.
Boozman also said he disagreed with Trump's proposed ban on Muslims travelling to the United States:

We’ve been at war now for many, many years, and we simply would not have had the gains that we’ve had without the contribution, sacrifice and cooperation of Muslims working hand in hand with the American troops.
Nevertheless, said Boozman:
I support our nominee. I support Mr. Trump. There’s so much at stake in this election. The American people, the country of America, I don’t think can stand a third term of President Obama, and Secretary Clinton has embraced that wholeheartedly.
Well, Boozman can go to bed at night knowing he's a good partisan team player.

Boozman also said that Trump's suggestion that the Russian government conduct espionage on an American citizen was "just a tongue-in-cheek comment." And maybe so! Personally, I'm less concerned with whether Trump is speaking with tongue in cheek than whether, on the subject of foreign affairs, he's simply talking out of his rear end.

Boozman added: "The outcry over that, I think that’s what drives the American people crazy is the political correctness."

That statement, an utterly meaningless gasp of incoherent grievance, is like a fortune-cookie message from the Republican party in 2016.
