KAINE: Is Hillary Clinton leaning toward tapping the Virginia senator as her running mate?
Hillary Clinton is expected to announce her choice for vice-presidential nominee either this weekend or perhaps as soon as today.
Lots of reports suggest
that she is leaning toward Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine.
Some on the left are less than enamored
with that idea (though it seems to me you would want your strongest left-leaning champions in legislative roles rather than in the basically powerless VP's office). Worth noting: if it's Kaine, the Democratic governor would name his replacement, but a special election would be triggered in 2017, so the Dems would potentially be risking that seat.
Among the other names floated: Former Iowa governor and current Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Ohio Sen. Sherrod Brown, Labor Secretary Tom Perez, and HUD Secretary Julian Castro. From NPR, here's a good rundown
of some of her possible choices.
What say y'all: who should she pick?
