A program has been scheduled from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Arkansas Baptist College to bring together police and black males aged 12 to 18 to promote understanding.

The event is sponsored by the National OK (Our Kids) Program, the college and the Derek Olivier Research Institute. A panel discussion, "Black & Blue: Creating Solutions for Change," will include Eric Higgins, retired Little Rock assistant police chief; Sargent Willie Davis of OK; Little Rock Police Lt. Earnest Whitten; Baptist College Dean Brian Miller, and retired Judge Marion Humphrey.

The OK program brings police, schools, religious leaders and others together to bridge the gap between community and police forces. It has chapters in four cities including the headquarters in Kansas City and is expanding to Atlanta and Indianapolis next school year, with plans to move into Detroit, Birmingham and St. Louis in 2017.
