The state Libertarian Party
says it will hold a special nominating convention July 30 to pick a candidate to run in a special election to finish the term of Republican Rep. Kelley Linck
, who's resigned the seat to work in the Hutchinson administration.
The special election will be Nov. 8, the same day as the general election for the next two-year term. Jack Fortner,
a Republican, is unopposed in the general election. Should a libertarian candidate win the special election, the victory would entitle the winner to serve less than two months, during a time when the legislature isn't expected to meet. Go figure.
