Mike Huckabee, the former governor, won’t be speaking at the Republican National Convention after all. But that probably means you’ll see more of him on TV, or at least on one cable channel. He opted instead for his paid gig as a commentator for Fox News, which said he couldn’t be a convention speaker and paid commentator at the same time.
Huckabee told Frank Lockwood at the Democrat-Gazette it was an easy call after spending a time as a presidential candidate without income from Fox. He needs to replenish the old coffers.
Arkansas will still be over-represented by Asa Hutchison, Tom Cotton and Leslie Rutledge.
Huckabee won’t exactly be a neutral observer and not only because his daughter is on Trump’s payroll.
He wrote the piece for Politico — fart joke included — to say politicians who don’t support Trump shouldn’t be speaking at the convention.
