A Houston couple has given the University of Arkansas Department of Journalism $1 million to expand Kimpel Hall with new space for TV production, news reporting and control room.

The gift is from Susan Walk Burnett, a UA journalism graduate, and her husband Rusty.

The gift fully funds the $2 million project, which will be built on the front of the building facing McIlroy Avenue.

Sue Burnett, an El Dorado native and editor of the yearbook in 1968, now is president of Burnett  Specialists, a $70 million staffing and placement firm with 10 offices in Houston, Austin, San Antonio and  El Paso, and Choice Specialists in Dallas. She's supported journalism scholarships and funding for the reading room in Kimpel Hall in the past.
