HUCKABODE: The former governor down-sized and hopped across the river with real estate transactions in June. The former governor will still have a place to stay when visiting grandkids in Arkansas.
Former Gov. Mike Huckabee
finally sold his Shady Valley house
in North Little Rock, with the property changing hands for $660,000 on June 1, according to the county assessor's records. The house was sold to Billy and Linda Morden.
Huckabee bought the house to prepare for post-gubernatorial days
in 2006 for $525,000. He put it on the market in 2013 for $850,000. His main home now is in income-tax-free Florida, a $3 million beachfront property in Santa Rosa Beach. June 3, two days after the North Little Rock home sale, he bought a 3,000-square-foot home at 107 Claremore Court in Little Rock for $230,000. He has children and grandchildren in Little Rock.
I learned of the property transaction in a happy way — a story by former colleague Stephen Steed in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. Steed had endured some health setbacks recently and it's good news to see him back at work
Steed's report says the buyers of the Huckabee home
, professed long-time admirers of the former governor, got most of the Huckabees' furniture thrown in on the deal, though not a well-stocked gun safe. A pretty picture of the Ten Commandments was included, Mrs. Morden said.
SOLD: The former Huckabee home at 1134 Silverwood Trail, North Little Rock.
