Four races for Little Rock City Board are on the ballot in November but so far only one sure challenge has developed: newcomer Molly Miller will challenge eternal at-large incumbent Director Joan Adcock for her seat in Position 10.

Elsewhere, Ward 4 incumbent Brad Cazort is not seeking re-election and Trio’s owner Capi Peck is hard at work building a campaign to take the seat. That leaves at-large Directors Dean Kumpuris (Position 8) and Gene Fortson (Position 9). Both have said they intend to seek re-election.

One measure of interest in the office is people who’ve picked up petition forms to qualify for the ballot from the city clerk. On that front, Clerk Susan Langley told me last week that:

June Matheny, along with Peck, picked up petitions for Ward 4; JoAnn Coleman for Position 8; Bernard Hochstetter for Position 9, and Antwan Phillips for Position 10, as well as Miller. These are not commitments to run. Phillips, for one, has told me he will NOT be seeking a board seat this year, but the young lawyer clearly has future political plans.
