Donald Trump has set a meeting in New York today with several Republican governors, including Asa Hutchinson of Arkansas. They are from mostly red-meat GOP states like Oklahoma, Arkansas, Mississippi and Tennessee.

Nobody seems to yet know the agenda. I could think of a few things people of principle might tell Trump, presuming they didn’t agree with him in the first place. Sad.

Maybe he’s vetting veeps. Or maybe he just wants to share his 70th birthday cake. He said later it was lovely. A “broad range of issues” discussed. They may not agree on everything, Hutchinson said, but they did agree “on the importance of this election.” Uh huh. The governor’s full statement:
