The Donald W. Reynolds Foundation, in what might be one of its last grants in Arkansas since it’s spending down the corpus, has announced a $1.5 million grant to the Donald W. Reynolds Institute on Aging at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.
The grant establishes the Wes Smith Distinguished Chair in Geriatrics for Longevity, Health Promotion and Frailty Prevention.

In a news release, foundation Chairman Fred W. Smith said the chair honors foundation trustee Wes Smith’s “personal commitment to a healthy lifestyle and longevity resulting from wise lifestyle choices.”
The foundation, created by the late media entrepreneur, will cease operation in 2017.
